Join us at Rader Family Farms on Sunday, November 1st for the final day of our Fall Season and help us send those pumpkins out with a SMASH!

Come dressed in your favorite family-friendly costume and bring your own bag as you make your way through the farm collecting treats at our safe trick-or-treat stations!

Looking for more pumpkin fun?  Join us for Orange Crush from 1:00–4:00 PM!

Orange Crush is part of the regular Rader Family Farms fall experience and takes place inside the farm. General admission or a Season Pass to Rader Family Farms is required to participate in the Orange Crush activities inside the farm.

Your general admission includes access to the farm’s 56 fall activities and Orange Crush pumpkin-themed activities during the event.

 The recycling and smash area located in the parking lot is a separate, free community activity located outside the farm admission area.

Rader Family Farms is teaming up with the University of Illinois Extension and SCARCE for a pumpkin recycling event!

When Halloween is over, don’t send those Jack-O-Lanterns to the landfill. Bring them to Rader Family Farms for free pumpkin recycling – and, if you want, a FREE pumpkin smash!

🎃 FREE PUMPKIN RECYCLING & SMASH

Bring your pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns to the recycling dumpster located in the Rader Family Farms parking lot.

You have two choices:

💥 SMASH IT!
Bring your pumpkin to the recycling dumpster and smash it! Extension team members will be on hand to facilitate the smashing activity and provide the tools used for the event.

🎃 DROP & GO!
Not in the mood to smash? No problem! Simply bring your pumpkin to the recycling dumpster, drop it off, and go!

The pumpkin recycling and pumpkin smashing at the recycling dumpster are FREE and open to the public. You do NOT need to purchase admission to Rader Family Farms to drop off or smash a pumpkin at the recycling area.

Please remove candles, lights, decorations and any other non-compostable materials before bringing your pumpkin to the recycling area.

Pumpkins are organic material, but when they end up in landfills, they can contribute to methane emissions as they decompose. By composting and recycling pumpkins, we can keep this seasonal waste out of the landfill and put it to better use.

The Pumpkin Smash program is part of a larger effort across Illinois in collaboration with University of Illinois Extension and SCARCE, an Illinois environmental nonprofit that has helped divert pumpkins from landfills and turn them into compost.
